Star of the Sea Catholic Church is located in the southwest corner of
Oregon, in the small town of Brookings. Brookings is in the
"banana belt" of Oregon. Our climate is mild, producing palm
trees and flowers year round. The town lies between forested hills and
the Pacific Ocean. It is a small, friendly town. And our parish
welcomes newcomers and visitors.
The church itself sits on a hill
with an ocean view. The grounds are lovely and peaceful and have
award-winning landscaping. At the back of the property there is a
shrine with benches to sit on while meditating.
This parish website is here to serve
and inform you. We hope what we offer here will accomplish the
following:
1. Build community and unity among our parishioners, strengthen their
love for and their knowledge of the Catholic Faith.
2. Inspire other Catholics to value the Faith even more.
3. Encourage inactive Catholics to return to the Sacraments.
4. Provide information for those who want to become Catholic or who
just want to know more about the Catholic Faith.
5. Build bridges of understanding with non-Catholics who may have misconceptions
about what Catholics believe and practice.
